Of the design classics the E1027 Adjustable Table is perhaps the most recognised. It is ingeniously proportioned, its distinctive form making this height-adjustable table into one of the design icons of the 20th century.
It is named after her first, self-designed, house E 1027, “Maison en bord de Mer", sited on a cliff edge over-looking the Mediterranean near St. Tropez.
One of Eileen Gray's most rational designs, it is useful as a side table in living spaces, office and reception areas. There is a belief that it was designed for her sister who liked to breakfast in bed - the design of the E1027 enables the base to slide under the bed and the top to rest over the bed for just this purpose!
