Resources for DIY ProjectsIf the thought of personally engaging with the land of paint spattered overalls makes you physically ill then you were really made for the DDIY (Don't Do It Yourself!) route. So go straight to our Interior Design section for advice on picking the right consultant and to our Getting the best out of builders section for working with builders and tradespeople. But if you really want to DIY (and there is a humbling, Calvanistic pleasure of sorts to be gained by seeing the fruits of your own labours) then we've tried to make things a little easier for you to get the best advice. There is a wealth of good information out there on the internet but you'll also get a mega list of dodgy links if you type 'home improvement' into your friendly search engine. We've selected a number of sites that we believe give really useful, practical advice and information on making a success of improving your home without bombarding you with associated 'hard-sell' products. We think there may be somebody in the Outback who hasn't heard of Dulux, for the rest of us we probably stare at some of their products every day without realising it. So it's as well they give us a little back and the Dulux online magazine offers some really inspirational stuff on your home interior. If you want to have a bit of fun trying to put colours together without frightenening the horses then try their Roompainter. Painting the virtual rooms is good fun, really does work and is rather easier than slapping the stuff on for real! Home Forums is a discussion room for everything in the home improvement universe. If you haven't got time to chat then browse the editorial content, offering good advice on a range of home improvement issues Home Ideas offers slighty more off the wall advice on making a success of your home than most sites but if it is specifically your walls that concern you then their online wallpaper calculator will help you work out just how much paper you need Homestore will take your life over if you let it. It's an American site so you may not want all they offer but there are some really well presented home improvement project ideas and articles on interior design Better Homes & Gardens online brings the well known magazine style to your home without you having to leave your chair. A wealth of entertainingly presented information from planning your garden to touring the homes of the future. Homes by Design offers a serious database of information from where your nearest supplier is from everything from soft furnishings to wallpaper. If you have other links or sites that you think would be of real value to our visitors then please submit them to the source. With love |
