Online security
Sawitfirst.co.uk uses the market-leading Worldpay card collection & validation services to give you peace of mind while you shop online. Your credit card details are handled using Worldpay's own SSL servers, and are handled with the utmost security at all times. Data security is of the highest priority, with information transmitted online highly encrypted using complex logarithm combinations. The result is that an online transaction through Worldpay is probably more secure than a card transaction in a shop or by phone or fax.
It is simple to tell if you are on a secure site such as Sawitfirst versus a non secure site.On both the latest versions of Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer the following will be true on any secure server such as ours:

• Upon entering the secure areas of the website (on Sawitfirst this is when you enter the payment area after completing delivery details), the browser will flash a warning telling you that you are entering a secure website (unless you have disabled automatic notification) 
• The URL Address will show an address name starting with HTTPS://... versus the normal HTTP://... (the "S" added to end signifying Secure).
• On the lower Left hand side of Netscape's Navigator and on the lower right hand side of Microsoft Internet Explorer, you will see a locked padlock icon like this:

How to shop
The sawitfirst store is designed to be as simple as possible to use - browse the site by navigating using the department buttons on the left or 'shop by item' drop down box, or search for products or information by typing keywords in the search box.
A page (or pages) of products is then presented to you. To see a product in more detail click on the picture and you will be presented with a product information page from which you select links to tell you more about the designer.
To purchase an item select the 'add to basket' button.
At any time you can review the contents of your shopping basket by clicking on the 'shopping basket' tab at the top of every page. You can cancel your order at any time - you are not committed to buying an item until you review the contents of your shopping basket and complete the ordering process.
We keep you regularly informed on the status of your order by email.

Shopping Basket
This works in a similar way to a real shopping basket (although in truth you don't usually go round putting furniture in your basket!). Add any item that interests you to your basket - there's no obligation until you have completed the checkout process.To change quantities of products please enter a new quantity and remember to click the "Edit" button. Removing items is easy, just click "Remove" and your basket is automatically updated (just like putting a sofa back on the shop shelf!).
To purchase the contents of your basket  - check the products and quantities in your basket are what you want then select "checkout".
The following pages ask you to complete name and delivery address details followed by your card details. Please review our Terms and Conditions and check the box to confirm that you have read and agree to be bound by them. Then select the "Make Payment" button (just once to avoid duplicate orders) to finalise the purchase. After a few moments confirmation of the order is presented by way of a receipt that you can print off.
You will then recieve confirmation of your order status by email and a printed receipt with your order or by post.

Prices
All prices, including delivery where applicable (free delivery on almost all our range), are quoted in Pounds Sterling and include VAT. We try and offer interesting, individual products at competitive prices. If you do see the same product at a better price elsewhere please contact us and we'll adjust our store price if at all possible.
Most prices include free delivery - see delivery section. Please note we regret that due to courier costs additional shipping may have to be charged to outlying areas such as the Highlands & Islands of Scotland, Channel Isles etc.

Gifts & message tags
If your purchase is to be sent as a present, simply enter the details in the 'Delivery Instructions' box in the shopping basket which will enable you to send a short message on a tasteful gift tag supplied free by sawitfirst.co.uk.

Receipts
You will receive a printed receipt by email on completion of your order. This has full VAT details. If you need a more detailed invoice please just let us know.

Delivery & shipping costs
Free delivery on all orders over just £25 even if we have to despatch some goods separately. 
The only exception is a small number of our heavy designs - please see individual product pages. Please note we regret that due to courier costs additional shipping may have to be charged to outlying areas such as the Highlands & Islands of Scotland, Channel Isles etc.
Standard delivery is normal working hours monday to friday. We can usually deliver on saturdays, however there will normally be an additional charge - please contact us for details.
We aim to deliver all orders within 10 days but do please allow up to 28 days for delivery (unless a different delivery time is shown against the particular product). If your order is urgent please email sales@sawitfirst.co.uk and we will be happy to prioritise your order as far as possible.
We are human which means we are not infallible but it also means we understand when you've left it a bit late to buy a present! So we'll try and help. 

Overseas orders - we only take online orders from mainline UK - for all other enquiries please contact sales@sawitfirst.co.uk . We can normally deliver smaller items anywhere in world.

Dimensions
The dimensions we give are those of the product, not the box that it comes in (because you can always open the box outside to bring the item in).
We do recommend that you check the dimensions of access points to your home (including stairs/lifts) when ordering furniture so that you are not disappointed.

Descriptions
We pride ourselves on our comprehensive product information which we try and make interesting, as well as being clear and accurate. As you will have seen we describe the construction and wherever possible provide information on the designer.
The majority of our products are professionally photographed. However we work with and support a number of emerging designers whose focus can sometimes be on their craft rather than their product images. We hope the images we display do justice to the products we offer and tempt you to let them into your life but if you would like more information about a particular product, please contact us.

Assembly
Most products are supplied ready assembled. Some items require straightforward home assembly - this will be clearly pointed out in the product description. Instructions will be included with your purchase.

Refunds, returns  & cancellations
We do our very best to describe our products really well but we do understand you may sometimes wish to return something unsuitable. You may return any product (*) you have ordered from sawitfirst.co.uk within 14 days from receipt of delivery provided it is still in saleable condition. We will refund in full, less a delivery, restocking and packing charge per package as follows:

Small items (Post - eg clocks) £7.95
Medium items (Courier - eg Cubes & trashcans) £12.95
Large items (eg  furniture) £25.00

These costs are purely to assist in recovering our own packaging and transport costs etc - there is no surcharge and if actual costs are less than those shown we will refund the difference.
To return any item please contact us and we will arrange safe collection. If you return goods using alternative arrangments sawitfirst.co.uk cannot be responsible for their safe return and cannot guarantee normal refund or replacement unless the goods are received in saleable condition as determined by sawitfirst.co.uk.
Please tell us whether you want a refund, replacement (if goods are faulty) or alternative goods.
If the replacement or alternative goods are out of stock at the time we receive your return, we will offer an alternative or a refund. If you wish to wait until the item is back in stock, we will contact you with details of when you can expect delivery.
All online refunds will be completed within 30 days of agreement. All refunds will be made according to the method of payment. Please note that we do not refund the cost of delivery unless the return is the result of an error made by sawitfirst.co.uk.
Your statutory rights are not affected.
Please contact us to cancel an order. We will accept cancellation of any order prior to dispatch.

(*) Special orders - please note we cannot accept return of non stock items made to customers specific requirments - such as upholstered items. Your statutory rights are not affected.

Subscribe to newsletter
Subscription is your choice - you can use the site and shop freely without subsribing. If you do subscribe we will keep you updated on interesting new products, new advice and information, and make you aware of special offers, promotions etc.
We will not inundate you with mail - just an occasional short newsletter to advise you of products & services from sawitfirst.co.uk which we believe are of interest.
You can de-register at any time and we will not trouble you again nor disclose your details to third parties. We comply with the data protection act.

About sawitfirst.co.uk
sawitfirst.co.uk was founded in 2002.
We started in the back of a garage with a couple of PC's and one big aim - to bring good quality, well-designed individual furniture and home accessories to as many folk as we could.
Everywhere we looked we saw the same tired old brands, yet everywhere we turned we met enthusiastic designers, makers, importers and and agents who, like us,  either designed and made great stuff or who had access to people who did.
So we got together with them to bring their stuff to the widest audience we could find in the most effective way we could. That's why we set up sawitfirst.co.uk  - the internet seemed the obvious answer and so it has proved with many of our products featuring on TV and in the press (see Press & TV link).
We work from nice offices now, we're a limited company and like to think of ourselves as at least a little grown up!
