Home > about & advice > Designers & Manufacturers > Stone, Finn

Finn Stone from Wood Green, London designs and manufactures modern, contemporary, sculptural furniture and interiors. Specialising in fibreglass chairs, Finn also designs 3-D textured wall tiles and multi-functional tables, and his latest project is designing a sculptural lamp.

With a degree in Ceramics and over ten years experience working in the interiors industry, Finn set up "Finn Stone" in December 2000 to allow him freedom of creativity and full control over the whole design and production process of his creations. His designs have proven extremely popular due to their retro appeal, and with their affordable prices he is offering the opportunity for the general public to own modern, contemporary household pieces.

Famed for his "ball chair", Finn’s creations are stocked in selected design-led furniture shops throughout the world, and due to high demand, he is currently working on a "baby ball" range for young children. His designs have also been featured on the "Home Front" television programme and in the latest Capital Radio adverts.

Finn  recently won the Shell LiveWIRE Young Business Start Up Award for greatest business potential. Explaining the judges decision to make the award to Finn, Merilee Karr of Shell Services International, said: "A designer with the greatest potential with a business partner at his side, we can’t wait to see where Finn will be in five years time."

With his prize money, Finn intends to invest in his manufacturing process, ensuring that as demand continues to rise, he will be able to maintain full control without the need for sub-contractors. Recently having been commissioned by a hotel in Singapore to supply six chairs, Finn hopes to take on more work in the leisure industry, ultimately designing the full interior package for commercial properties, from flooring and wall tiling through to the furniture and ceramics.
